What to do after a Bitcoin scam?

Bitcoin and other crypto scams can be distressing, but there are important steps you can take right now to try to limit the damage and report it properly. Here’s what to do, step-by-step:

⚠️ 1. Stop All Contact

If you’re still communicating with the scammer (email, WhatsApp, Telegram, etc.), block them immediately. Do not send more money or share any personal information.

🔒 2. Secure Your Accounts

  • Change passwords for your crypto exchange, email, and banking accounts.
  • Enable two-factor authentication (2FA) everywhere you can.
  • If you gave access to your wallet (e.g., seed phrase, private key), move any remaining funds to a new wallet immediately.

📞 3. Report the Scam

Reporting helps authorities trace and potentially stop similar scams.
